Sweet Mitty Is Turning 6!

 

This Saturday, July 11, our sweet Mitty turns six years old.

My daughter, Kat, adopted Mitty nearly three years ago. Her birthday is actually the day she was rescued.

"Mitty stayed at the shelter for two months without being adopted because most people preferred younger cats," Kat told me. "She was sitting quietly in her cage. My heart melted, and I knew I had to bring her home."

I can hardly believe Mitty has been part of our family for almost three years. She truly is the sweetest girl.

Mitty is incredibly quiet. In fact, she rarely makes a sound. Every now and then, she'll let out a soft, quick little "ah" when she really wants our attention. Whenever she does, we all get excited because it's such a rare and precious moment.

Now that she's a middle-aged cat, her favorite things are wonderfully simple: sitting by the window watching the world go by, stretching out for a good scratch from one of us, and, of course, enjoying her favorite snacks.

We've been trying to cut back on treats to help keep her at a healthy weight, so getting wet food every other day has become the highlight of her routine. When I'm working in the kitchen, she'll quietly sit behind me, patiently waiting, hoping it's treat time. One look into those gentle eyes is enough to melt my heart, even when I have to tell her, "Not yet, Mitty."

For her birthday, I ordered a big container of Churu, her absolute favorite. I can't wait to celebrate with her and spoil her just a little.

Thank you for filling our home with your quiet companionship, gentle spirit, and unconditional love. You have brought far more joy and comfort into our lives than you'll ever know.
