From Trauma to Healing: The Story Behind a Cat-Themed Brand (Part II)

My first emotional meltdown happened when I had just moved to the U.S. As a new foreign student, I could barely understand what was going on in class. Between the language barrier, financial stress, academic pressure, and the need to work to support myself, everything felt overwhelming. I held it in for a while—until I couldn’t anymore.

The second mental breakdown came during the economic recession after the Y2K bubble burst. There were mass layoffs everywhere. I was a new mother then, and the fear of losing our only income made every day feel like walking a tightrope. I was constantly anxious, barely sleeping, and completely exhausted.

The third breakdown was the hardest. After giving birth to my second child, everything spiraled. That was the moment I hit rock bottom—and ended up at a mental health and addiction assistance center. I felt completely broken. But strangely, that’s when healing began.

I let go, and let God take control of my life. And slowly, something amazing happened. I started to feel like a new version of me—reborn, lighter, and more open to life.

Healing is a journey, not a destination. Just like high blood pressure or diabetes, mental illness doesn’t always go away completely—but it can be managed with medication, counseling, and spiritual support. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about taking one step at a time.

Through it all, I realized something important: our pain often has a purpose. Maybe not in the moment—but later, when we use it to help others. That realization became my mission: to raise awareness about mental health and help others feel seen, heard, and supported.

For years, I kept this dream quietly in my heart, looking for a way to make it real.

Then one day, my daughter adopted a rescue cat named Mitty. She was three years old, quiet, gentle, and a little mysterious—just like many people who carry deep emotional stories within them. Our whole family instantly fell in love with her.

That’s when it clicked. What if I could build something inspired by Mitty—something soft, comforting, and meaningful?

That’s how the Mitty brand was born. A cat-themed clothing line that’s not just about style—it’s about comfort, healing, and emotional well-being. Through Mitty, I’m creating a space to spread mental health awareness, one t-shirt and one story at a time.

And I’m still figuring it out as I go. I’m not a mental health expert. I’m just someone who’s been there—more than once—and wants to let others know they’re not alone.

So if you’re reading this, thank you for being here. I’d love your support in helping this message reach more people. Whether you’re sharing your own story, wearing a Mitty tee, or simply telling someone it’s okay to not be okay—every little bit matters.

There are people out there struggling silently—kids, teens, adults, seniors. In every phase of life, we face different battles, whether it’s at home, school, work, or in our own minds. Many people feel ashamed to open up. Many don’t know where to turn.

Let’s change that, together.
